Overview
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental impairment. It is broad range of conditions caused by variations in the brain. Some ASD patients have a recognised distinction, like a genetic disorder. ASD patients face challenges in social skills, behaviours, understanding things and speech disability. Communication and social adjustment are challenging for people with autism. They struggle to comprehend what other people are thinking or feeling, they become extremely uneasy in social situations, they struggle to establish friends, or they prefer to be alone themselves. The most frequent risk factors include nutritional inadequacies during pregnancy, parental age, infections, contact with harmful substances, and use of specific drugs. Although there may not be a cure for autism, treatment aims to optimise a person's functional capacity by teaching them social, communication, functional, and behavioural skills.
