Canker sores and sores brought on by hand, foot, and mouth diseases are two examples of mouth ulcer types. Mouth ulcers are rarely communicable and often go away on their own in 1 to 2 weeks. Mouth ulcers can affect anyone. Although there is no known cause for these ulcers, several things can trigger them, including mental stress, lack of sleep, certain nutritional deficiencies, trauma from harsh brushing, accidental bites, allergies, and infections. The majority of mouth ulcers heal on their own. Topical medications may be administered to lessen discomfort and lower the possibility of complications. Antiseptic gels, steroid ointments, or pharmaceutical mouth rinses are frequently used to treat mouth ulcers.
